Summer Reading Recommendations: Jim Krusoe

Over the next couple months, some of our authors and editors will be offering up their suggestions of what books you should be reading this summer. From all available research, sand and sunshine do not make the Twilight series any better. Today’s selection comes from Jim Krusoe, the author of, most recently, the novel Erased.

In terms of summer reading: for a while I’ve been going through a Toby Olson binge; his narrative is nearly always driven by the fabulous id and the rules of dreaming. And speaking of dream, I just picked up a new translation of the novella Der Schimmelreiter, which originally was called in English, The Rider on the White Horse, by Theodore Storm. The new version is translated as The Dykemaster, and it’s every bit as dreamlike and spooky as I remembered it.
